What I do!

Mario Martin’s love for storytelling originated as a young boy when he felt inspired to tell stories through writing. At eighteen he shot his first film, “Checkmate.” That was the birthing of his passion for film-making and screenwriting.

Early on he honed his craft at the Maine Media Workshops and Boston Film & Video Foundation. Mario has attended many screenwriting boot-camps, worked with multiple coverage companies and many screenwriters.

Thousands of cheering fans watch live video game competitions on huge suspended screens.

EXT. CONVENTION BUILDING – LAS VEGAS – DAY

O.S.(off screen) Song; “Death Race For Love.”

Thousands of people slowly proceed through the entrance.

INT. REGISTRATION TABLE – GAMER CONVENTION HALL – LAS VEGAS – DAY

O.S.(off screen)Song; “Lucid dreams.”

Gamers; scores of them, many with parents stand in front of the registration table.

REGISTRATION TABLE

O.S.(off screen) Song; “All girls are the same.”

Lady with a head-covering, leans over, pen in hand, signs a paper. Older woman with blond frizzy hair stands opposite side of the table, organizes her space.

Jack and Mia stand at the registration table opposite a stern looking old woman, wears glasses. They appear excited.

O.S.(off screen) Song; “The Woo.”

JUST THEN

Old white-haired woman pops her head up, looks at Jack and Mia, sternly.

OLD WOMAN

“Parental consent is required for minors!”

Jack and Mia turn to each other, both appear taken aback.

Mia turns to Old Lady opposite of side of the table.

MIA

“Parents? Yes of course, they’re outside!”

Mia turns to Jack, cradles his arm. They exit.

EXT. BACK ALLY – LASVEGAS – DAY

O.S.(off screen) Song; “Laugh no cry.”

Mia walks down the ally, turns to Jack, smiles broadly..

MIA

“Hurry!”

Jack follows at a distance, appears apprehensive.

JACK

“Mia! Where are you going!?”

ALLY

O.S.(off screen) Song; “The Scotts, The Scotts!”

Homeless man and Woman lay on a wooden bench. Man lifts his head as Mia and Jack approach.

Mia reaches down, hands three dollars to Homeless man.

O.S.(off screen)Song; “The Woo!”

Jack stands nearby, looks surprised.

O.S.(off screen) Song; “Please excuse me for being antisocial!”

INT. REGISTRATION TABLE – GAMER CONVENTION – LAS VEGAS – DAY

Mia and Jack stand next to Homeless couple at the registration table with a look of anticipation. They both watch homeless couple sign.

Spectators in the stadium, thousands of them stand, waive their arms, hoot, howl, and cheer!

V.O.(voice over) JACK; “There he is! That’s him!”

V.O.(voice over) MIA; “Looks like he has a team.”

V.O.(voice over) Jack; “I haven’t eaten in two days.

Jack turns to Mia. She nods with an exhausted look of approval, rest her head on her hand.

MIA

“Cheeseburgers and fries. That’s my food fantasy.”

MIA’S FOOD FANTASY

Jack pulls his pant pockets inside-out.

JACK

“Rental parents got my last three bucks.”

Mia appears to be in thought, her face moves with expression.

MIA

“I have an idea!”

EXT. MAIN STREET – LAS VEGAS – DAY

Jack stands on the busy street corner, cup and a cardboard sign in hand, appears dejected, hungry.

ACROSS THE STREET

Mia squats in a beggars stance, back against the wall, holds a bowl out with her two hands, looks sad.

INT. BURGER RESTUARANT – LAS VEGAS – DAY

Jack and Mia sit side-by-side at the counter, both hold and eat big cheeseburgers. They appear happy.

JACK

“I begged up thirty five dollars and seventy five cents in an hour!”

Mia looks at Jack, reveals a broad smile. She holds one cheeseburger to her mouth, displays the other cheeseburger in her other hand.

MIA

“I begged up fifty seven.”

She takes a large bit of the cheeseburger, chews, nods enthusiastically.

JACK

“It’s like all the money in the world is here!”

MIA

“Ya! You just have to know how to find it!”

EXT. BACKYARD (Jack’s house) ONTERIO – CANADA – DAY

Mia’s, DAD and MOM, sit on a bench. They watch Jack’s FATHER and MOTHER move, steaks, sausage and vegetables over a smoky grill.

DAD(Mia’s)

“I like my steak, medium.”

V.O.(voice over) FATHER(Jack’s); “And you, MOM?

MOM(Mia’s)

“Rare.”

FATHER(Jack’s)

“I’m glad we’ve finally met.”

MOTHER(Jack’s)

“Mia’s like a daughter.”

LATER

Both parents stand around the grill, men with beer-bottles in hand, women with wine-glasses.

FATHER(Jack’s)

‘I think it’s time to call the police.”

DAD(Mia’s)

“I’m calling the cops right now!”

He reaches around to his back pocket,(face gestures about)stumbles, reveals cell-phone, looks at it.

DAD

“Call the cops!”

INT. STADIUM SEATS – GAMER CONVENTION HALL – LAS VEGAS – NIGHT

V.O.(voice over) JACK; “The only person I have ever played in front of, is, You.”

Thousands of gamers, Chant, Hoot and Howl.

O.S. (off screen)Song; “Bat out of hell!”

MIA

“Same.”

O.S.(off screen)Sound, song; “Super Mario64.”

JACK

“I’m feeling a little nervous.”
