What I do!

Mario Martin’s love for storytelling originated as a young boy when he felt inspired to tell stories through writing. At eighteen he shot his first film, “Checkmate.” That was the birthing of his passion for film-making and screenwriting.

Early on he honed his craft at the Maine Media Workshops and Boston Film & Video Foundation. Mario has attended many screenwriting boot-camps, worked with multiple coverage companies and many screenwriters.

INT. CONVENTION CENTER – LAS VEGAS – NIGHT #scriptdick

O.S.(off screen)Gamer Song; “Reach don’t stop.”

SUSPENDED VIDEO SCREEN – CENTER STADIUM

OPEN FLOOR – COMPETITION AREA

Four aggressive looking guys sit together at the table. They wear identical T-shirts focus on computer screens, quickly work remotes, make menacing looking facial contorts.

O.S.(off screen) ANNOUNCER; “Jerks from Jersey in the house ya-all! These guys are brutal!””

BIG SCREEN

Video game, war scene.

O.S. (off screen) Gamer Song; “Alien Party!”

O.S.(off screen) GAME ANNOUNCER; “Oh oh?! Jack lost a leg! Good luck in the footrace mate!”

Jack throws his hands up, grits his teeth at the screen, appears tense.

O.S.(off screen)Gamer Song; “Lost on the Way!”

Jack stares at the screen, with a look of frustration, rattles his fists at the screen.

JACK

“Piss off!”

SEVERAL TABLES TO THE RIGHT

Mia sits in front of the screen, intensely focused competes with the guy to her left. He seems relaxed.

O.S.(off screen)Gamer Song; “Crusade!”

TABLE TO THE RIGHT

Jack looks down, rubs his forehead, appears anxious.

JACK

“Yo, got my leg, bitches! (pause)Can’t run, means I’m done.”

SEVERAL TABLES TO THE LEFT

Mia sits straight up, grabs her head, stares at the screen slack-jawed with a look of disbelief!

MIA

“No! No! No No! No! No!”

O.S.(off screen) Gamer Song; “Doubt You!”

Mia turns away, looks sad. Computer screen reads, “Defeat.”

STADIUM

Thousands of fans focus on the suspended video screens. Many stand, wave their arms, cheer.

O.S.(off screen)Sound; Thousands of cheering voices, hoots, clapping of hands.

JUST THEN

Gamer-controls wiz by Mia’s head.

O.S.(off screen)Gamer Song; “Warriors!”

INT. BURGUR RESTURANT – NIGHT

Jack and Mia sit side-by-side. They appear tired, dejected. Mia looks away.

MIA

“One more chance, that’s all we get.”

Jack looks down, rests his face on his hand.

JACK

“Then we’re out.”

V.O.(voice over) OLD MAN; “What if you win?”

TABLE ACROSS THE ISLE

OLD MAN sits in booth, smiles, nods politely to waiter who reaches down to the table.

Old Man looks over at Jack and Mia. Both have their heads down on the table, appear sad.

Jack picks his head up, turns towards Mia seated next to him.

JACK

“My tanks empty.”

Mia lifts her head, turns towards Jack.

MIA

“I feel like I’ve been shot in the head.”

TABLE ACROSS THE ISLE

Old Man looks over at Jack and Mia, he appears genuine, caring.

OLD MAN

“Let me guess, gamers?”

Mia picks her head up, looks at Old Man.

MIA

“Huh?”

Jack sits up, rests his head on his hand, looks down at the table, appears very sad.

Jack turns to Old Man, averts eye contact.

JACK

“Trying to save our home, not looking good.”

Old Man sips coffee, writes on a newspaper, appears to be in thought.

OLD MAN

“Seems it’s not over yet. Get some sunshine, fresh air. You’re young, You’ll figure it out.”

He stands, approaches Jack and Mia’s table, reveals his business card, sets it on the table.

OLD MAN

“Show them this, they’ll let you in for free.”

EXT. FIRST HOLE – GOLF COURSE – LAS VEGAS – DAY

Jack and Mia’s parents stand on the golf course in golf attire. Mia’s Father turns to Jack’s Dad.

DAD(Jack’s)

“Eighteen holes for four people?! Sure was nice of him. I just wish I knew how to golf.”

Mia’ Father nods to Jack’s Dad. He turns right, looks around, turns left, looks around.

FATHER(Mia’s)

“Now if we can just find the kids!”

EIGHTEENTH HOLE

V.O.(voice over) MIA; “I guess this qualified as sunshine and fresh air.”

Two men stand on a golf course face the city. Man with the red shirt in a golfers stance holds a club.

T OFF AREA

O.S.(off screen) Gamer song; “Alibl!”

Mia swings a golf club, looks straight ahead, focused.

V.O.(voice over) JACK; “Are you like naturally good at everything you do?”

Mia drops the golf club, turns to Jack, looks up at him.

MIA

“Something I need to tell you.”

She reaches up, kisses him passionately.

O.S.(off screen) Gamer song: “Blue eyed demon!”

Jack steps back, captures his breath, looks into Mia’s eyes with wonder, smiles broadly.

JACK

“There’s something I’ve been wanting to say to you.”

He kisses Mia passionately, looks into her eyes.

JACK

“I love you.”

Mia smiles, their eyes locked, she nods.

MIA

“And I love, you, Jack.

They both, giggle, appear happy.

JACK

“He was right, the Old Man, about sunshine and fresh air, feeling better.”

MIA

“Now we just need the figuring it out part.”

JACK

“You mean how to make an almost impossible comeback and win the tournament?”

Mia studies Jack, raises her eyebrows, gives a slow doubtful looking nod. Jack studies her, he appears doubtful.

JACK

“Do you believe we can?”

Mia looks at Jack, her eyes appear serine, sincere.

MIA

“I believe you can, Jack.”

O.S.(off screen) Gamer song; “Stockholm lights.”
