What I do!

Mario Martin’s love for storytelling originated as a young boy when he felt inspired to tell stories through writing. At eighteen he shot his first film, “Checkmate.” That was the birthing of his passion for film-making and screenwriting.

Early on he honed his craft at the Maine Media Workshops and Boston Film & Video Foundation. Mario has attended many screenwriting boot-camps, worked with multiple coverage companies and many screenwriters.

EXT. ATMOSPHERE – COSMOS – DAY #scriptdick

O.S.(off screen) Sound; Jet engine.

Hummer flies at light-speed across a pink atmosphere.

V.O.(voice over) JOHN; “It’s you and me babe.”

V.O.(voice over) MORGAN; “Mmm……yes.”

V.O.(voice over) TONY; “How much longer til we get there?”

V.O.(voice over) LIBBY; “Arf, arf!”

INT. HUMMER (FLYING) – ATMOSPHERE – COSMOS – DAY

John drivers,(flying) both hands on the wheel, looks straight ahead, appears focused. Morgan looks ahead, appears faraway.

BACKSEAT

Tony and Libby lay asleep.

JOHN

“Turbulence ahead, looks nasty.”

“Hang on!”

John grips the wheel firmly, appears tense.

JUST THEN

Interior cabin flips, it spins in circles. John appears ill. He turns to Morgan.

JOHN

“I don’t feel so good.”

He looks out his window, looks down. His eyes widen, he appears unsettled, turns to Morgan.

JOHN

“Babe!”

Morgan turns to John with a questioning look?

He points down.

Morgan turns, looks out her window. Her eyes widen, her jaw slacks, she appears startled.

JOHN

“It looks like a vortex and we’re being pulled into it!”

MORGAN

“Oh no!”

EXT. ATMOSPHERE – COSMOS – DAY

O.S.(Off screen) Sound; “WHOOSHING” of Hummer flying by & “Jet engine.”

Hummer bursts out of the Vortex at light-speed.

V.O.(voice over) JOHN; “It feels so make believe. How could this possibly be happening?”

EXT. CAVERNOUS LOOKING PORTAL – COSMOS – NIGHT

Hummer shoots straight into a Cavernous Portal at light-speed.

V.O.(voice over) MORGAN; “I feel like I’m standing still.”

INT. HUMMER (flying) CAVERNOUS PORTAL – COSMOS – NIGHT

Hummer explodes into Cavernous Portal at blinding-speed.

BURSTS OF LIGHT.

O.S.(off screen) Sound; Jet engine Echos off portal walls.

John, both hands on the wheel, face pulled back from G-force, pinned to the headrest. Bug-eyed, he looks ahead. Morgan, passenger-seat, head pined to the headrest from G-force, eyes opened wide, looks ahead.

John both hands on the wheel, swerves.to his left, Hummer grinds against the Portal wall.

MORGAN

“Shit!”

O.S.(off screen)Sound; Metal grinding against cement wall.

Hummer grinds against Portal wall, sparks fly wildly.

EXT. UNIVERSE – COSMOS – DAY

O.S.(off screen) Sound; Jet engine.

Hummer explodes out of the Portal at light-speed.

INT. HUMMER(flying) ATMOSPHERE – COSMOS – DAY

John drives, both hands on the wheel, looks straight ahead, appears relaxed. Morgan appears relaxed. She looks at the blue planet ahead, turns to John.

MORGAN

“So beautiful.”

John turns to Morgan, nods. He turns to the windshield, looks ahead, squints.

JOHN

“Beyond the ridge there, way up ahead. Seems unusually bright.”

MINUTES LATER

John both hands on the wheel, face sweaty, wipes his brow. Looks out his window, looks down, appears scared.

V.O. (voice over)MORGAN; “It’s gone from eighty to a hundred and ten degrees in here in five minutes.”

Morgan wipes her sweaty face with her T-shirt. She looks out her window, looks down. She looks scared.

MORGAN

“What the?!”

Fire-storms fill the atmosphere below.

John, both hands on the wheel, wipes his sweaty brow with his shirt sleeve. He turns to Morgan.

JOHN

“Welcome to, Detritus.”

Morgan gives John an expressionless look, smirks. She turns, looks out her window, looks down, stares at a barren rock covered planet. Her eyes fill with tears.

BACKSEAT

Tony sits, stares away expressionlessly. Libby sits by his side

TONY

“Do you think my Mom and Dad will be there?”

Morgan and John in the front seat turn, look at one another, appear saddened.

Morgan turns around to the backseat, looks at Tony, smiles warmly.

MORGAN

“I hope so darling.”

CAMPSITE – BARREN PLAINS

Hummer, parked, doors and hatch open. John stands nearby, looks around, turns to Morgan who sits inside the the Hummer.

JOHN

“We’ll set camp up here!”

LATER – NIGHT

John walks up a hillside. He appears tired. He stops, wipes his brow, looks up to the sky.

“I have never believed in, You. It all seemed so foolish.”

He looks away, shakes his head.

JOHN

“Still does.”

He turns, looks at the tent and Hummer at the bottom of the hill. He turns, looks up to the sky.

JOHN

“She’s dying! And there’s a boy, and a dog! They’re dying! We need water!”

He bows his head, kneels, dries his eyes, looks up.

JOHN

“Please don’t let her die, please.”

CAMPSITE – NIGHT

John enters, looks over to his right. Tony and Libby lay asleep.

He turns to his left, Morgan lays on her back, eyes closed, she reveals a warm smile.

JOHN

“See you in dreamland.”

Morgan lays next to John. They both stare blankly at the ceiling.

MORGAN

“Sugar-coated dreams, my love.”

EXT. CAMPSITE – NIGHT

O.S.(off screen) Sound; Thunder & peels of lightning.

Lightning showers fill early morning sky.

O.S.(off screen) Sound; Rain pelts tent widow.

John, eyes open on his back, appears curious. He sniffs the air, turns to tent window covered in rain.

His eyes widen, his jaw slacks. He gets up, peels entrance way back, exits.

EXT CAMPSITE – DAY

John watches large rain drops splash down into pools of water.

JOHN

“It’s, You.”
