What I do!

Mario Martin’s love for storytelling originated as a young boy when he felt inspired to tell stories through writing. At eighteen he shot his first film, “Checkmate.” That was the birthing of his passion for film-making and screenwriting.

Early on he honed his craft at the Maine Media Workshops and Boston Film & Video Foundation. Mario has attended many screenwriting boot-camps, worked with multiple coverage companies and many screenwriters.

INT. FAMILY-ROOM – LOG-CABIN – MONTANA – DAY

(V.O.) voice over JOHN; “Hey, didn’t you say you didn’t know how to play?”

Tony smiles broadly, takes a chess-piece off the board, sets it on the table. John opposite Tony, focused on the chessboard. John looks at Tony who appears proud. John grins.

JOHN

“Okay. Who’s teaching who here?”

TONY

“I thought you gave it to me.”

O.S. (off screen) Libby, soft yelps.

John and Tony turn to Libby who lays asleep under a red blanket on the couch, appears to be dreaming.

TONY

“Does Libby fetch a stick?”

John looks at Tony, reveals a subtle smile.

JOHN

“I don’t know. We’ll find out tomorrow.”

EXT. RIVER – NEAR LOG-CABIN – MONTANA – DAY

John and Tony stand on a rock in the middle of a river. John squats, shows Tony a container with water and gold-like minerals in it. Tony looks in the container, pokes at the gold like minerals with his right hand, appears curious, his eyes widen.

TONY

“Gold.”

John turns to Tony.

JOHN

“Not all that glitters is gold. It’s fools gold. It’s not real. These rivers are loaded with it.”

Tony appears disappointed.

John stands, looks out to the mountains in the distance.

He turns to Tony, gives him a questioning look.

JOHN

“So you wanna go for a hike, way up there on that mountain?”

Tony smiles broadly.

JOHN

“Camping, in a tent and all that, wild animals up there too you know?

Tony’s face brightens.

TONY

“You can shoot them and then we can cook them.”

John looks at Tony, appears to admire him, reveals a smile.

EXT. MOUNTAIN TRAIL – MONTANA – DAY

John and Tony walk on a mountain trail. Libby runs on ahead.

JOHN.

“Libby, heal!”

Libby sits at the corner of the bend, looks at John and Tony approach.

EXT. MOUNTAIN CAMPSITE – MONTANA – DAY

Libby sleeps near the tent.

John lights fire.

He cooks meats over the grill.

Tony grills a marshmallow over the fire.

John picks up his ax, knife, and lighter on a tree stump. He turns to the table.

He reaches for his cup of tea and his revolver.

John turns to Tony.

JOHN

“Its getting late. Lets call it a day.”

NIGHT – FULL MOON

O.S.(off screen)Sounds of Peels of lightning and rolling thunder.

O.S.(off screen) Sound of pouring rain pelting the tent.

O.S.(off screen) Angry Grizzly bear growls.

V.O.(voice over) John; “You stay here.”

NEAR TENT ENTRANCE

Huge grizzly bear shows his massive teeth, growls angrily at John.

JUST THEN

John lifts his ax up over head.

He morphs into, “super-John.”

John delivers a super-human punch to the bears chest as it charges.

The bear stops immediately, rears up, appears to be out of breath, gasps falls over knocked out cold.

Tony stands at the tent entrance, stares at John with a look of aw, turns over to the massive grizzly-bear passed out on the ground.

TONY

“Are you a super hero?”

TONY

“Can I do that?”
