What I do!

Mario Martin’s love for storytelling originated as a young boy when he felt inspired to tell stories through writing. At eighteen he shot his first film, “Checkmate.” That was the birthing of his passion for film-making and screenwriting.

Early on he honed his craft at the Maine Media Workshops and Boston Film & Video Foundation. Mario has attended many screenwriting boot-camps, worked with multiple coverage companies and many screenwriters.

TWELVE YEARS LATER Jack & Mia 26 years old.

INT. DOCTORS OFFICE – ONTERIO – CANADA – DAY

Jack and Mia stand in front of a sonogram machine, focused on lady, DOCTOR.

DOCTOR

“I would say you’re about six weeks.”

EXT. STREET – OUTSIDE DOCTORS OFFICE – ONTERIO – CANADA – DAY

Jack carries Mia piggyback across the street, they look happy.

MIA

“We’re having a baby!”

JACK

“If she’s a girl. Can we name her, Mia?”

INT. RESTUARANT – ONTERIO – DAY

Jack and Mia sit on a couch, share a drink, exchange romantic looks.

LATER

Jack and Mia sit cuddled, Mia holds a binder on her lap, they read. Jack turns a page.

Mia turns to Jack.

MIA

“Hon, would you mind if I open the meeting?”

Jack nods with a look of approval.

JACK

“Why not. They’d rather hear from you anyway.”

MIA

“Aw, that’s not true. I want to let the board know the good news.”

Mia has a peaceful glow about her, looks down at her tummy.

INT. CAR (moving) – HIGHWAY – ONTERIO – CANADA – DAY

Jack drives, one hand on the wheel, other on Mia’s lap. She brushes her wind-blown-hair away from her face.

Jack glance over at Mia, turns his attention back to the road ahead, drives.

JACK

“Three of us now! That makes us a family!”

Mia looks over at Jack, appears content, gently squeezes his hand.

MIA

“I love you.”

Jack drives, both hands on the wheel, looks straight ahead, squeezes her hand.

JACK

“I am one lucky man!”

He turns to Mia.

JACK

“I can’t wait to sit by the pool with you, chill out. Sip a second Rumrunner!”

EXT. COTTAGE (Jack & Mia’s) BACKYARD – ONTERIO – CANADA – DAY

Luxurious contemporary home surrounded by lush trees, custom landscaped.

POOLSIDE

Inground pool overlooks a valley and river. A picturesque hillside on other side of river, mountains in far distance.

BAR POOLSIDE

Jack & Mia lay on lounge chairs, hold hands. Jack points at the screen on Mia’s cell-phone. They both laugh.

CELL PHONE – SCREEN

INT. STADIUM – CONVENTION CENTER – LAS VEGAS – DAY

TITLE CARD; “Twelve years earlier.”

Jack smiles broadly, hands held high. Thousands of spectators cheer.

V.O.(voice over) JACK; “Look at me! I was just a kid!”

CONTINUES; CELL PHONE – SCREEN

Moon, (twelve years earlier) smiles, reveals a thumbs up.

V.O. JACK; “Moon?! M! Why are we looking at these?! That rat almost stole our fortune!

V.O.(voice over) MIA; “No idea, I’m just scrolling……. Ooh! Yeah, look at this one!”

CONTINOUS; CELL PHONE – SCREEN

Jack stands over bundles of cash. He holds a handful of fanned out one hundred dollar bills.

V.O.(voice over) MIA; “I googled him you know, Moon? He’s working at a car wash in Albuquerque New Mexico.”

V.O.(voice over) JACK; “He must be cleaning up! Haha!”

V.O.(voice over) MIA; “Oh boy.”

V.O.(voice over)JACK; “Sorry, had too, low hanging fruit. Moon is working at a carwash, in New Mexico? Really?!”

V.O.(voice over)MIA; “Yup!”

V.O.(voice over) JACK; “Boy wonder, the genius who could do no wrong! Everybody loved him. Till he got caught!”

CONTINUES; CELL PHONE – SCREEN

EXT. FIELDSTONE HOUSE – JACK’S PARENTS NEW HOME – ONTERIO – CANADA – DAY

V.O.(voice over) JACK: “I guess that’s how, Ying and Yang settles things. Here we are, and Moon’s scrubbing cars!”

V.O.(voice over) MIA; “Look, your parents new house, twelve years ago.”

V.O.(voice over) JACK; “I miss the old house.”

CONTINUES; CELL PHONE – SCREEN

EXT. COUNTRYSIDE – ONTERIO – CANADA – DAY

Jack’s parents stand in an open field dressed in camouflage outfits, riffles in hand.

V.O.(voice over) JACK; “Now they have more time to go shooting. And Mom’s a better shot than Dad!”

CONTINUES; CELL PHONE – SCREEN

EXT. PARKING LOT – ONTERIO – CANADA – DAY

Mia’s Father sits on a motorcycle, twists the throttle.

V.O.(voice over) MIA; “And this one. When Dad got his first Harley. He was so excited!”

O.S.(off screen) SOUND; Rumble, (Harley Davidson motorcycle.)

V.O. (voice over) JACK; “He’s always polishing that thing!”

CONTINUES; CELL PHONE – SCREEN

Mia’s mother stands in front of a sliding door. wears tight leather pants and jacket, spiked boots. She strikes a pose.

V.O. (voice over) MIA; “Mom loves to ride, and the rally’s too! Which, I do not want to know about!”

V.O.(voice over) JACK; “Sounds like fun to me!”

POOLSIDE

Mia sits on Jacks lap, holds her cellphone out in front of them.

JACK

“We just scrolled through twelve years! I’m starving!”

He turns to, Mia.

JACK

“You want, Chinese?”

EXT. PARKING LOT – CHINESE RSTURANT – ONTERIO – CANADA – DAY

Restaurant sign in corner of lot.

V.O.(voice over) JACK; “No hot mustard! We don’t want to upset the baby.”

INT. CHINESE RESTAURANT – ONTERIO – DAY

Jack and Mia sit at a table. Jack, chopsticks in hand, takes a bite of food. He chews, turns to Mia with a satisfied look.

JACK

“I love crab-Rangoon!”

Mia spears a golden-spud with her fork, eats it. She gasps, looks alarmed.

MIA

“Ooh! That one had hot sauce!”

Jack, sweaty forehead, chopsticks in hand, turns to Mia.

JACK

“Drink water!”

O.S(off screen)SOUND; Cellphone ring.

Cell-phone on table next to a box of beef-noddle’s.

Jack, holds cell-phone, looks up at, Mia.

JACK

“This could be something big.”

He taps the cell-phone screen with his thumb.

V.O.(voice over) MIA; “Don’t forget. I tell them about the baby!”

CEL- PHONE – SCREEN

INT. BOARDROOM – JACK & MIA’S COMPANY – ONTERIO – CANANDA – DAY

Man, bald, in a suit, looks angry, stands at the end of a long table, points to a whiteboard on his right. Four glum looking Executives sit near front of table.

V.O.(voice over); MIA; “Hello my dear board members! I have a special announcement to make!”

SPEAKER, opposite end of table, Man with a beard and glasses stands, looks square into the TV screen on the wall.

SPEAKER

“Gaming is now, caput! You over leveraged, now you’re broke! Bounced payroll, corporate malfeasance; jail mister!”

RESTURANT

LATER

Jack and Mia sit at the table. They look tired, confused.

WAITER approaches, slip of paper in hand. He turns to Jack with a disgruntled look.

WAITER

“I tried three times, denied.”

INT. BEDROOM – JACK & MIA’S HOUSE – ONTERIO – CANADA – NIGHT

Jack and Mia lay cuddled in bed, stare at the ceiling..

JACK

“Feeling little feet yet?”

MIA

“No yet.”

Jack lightly brushes Mia’s shoulder with his fingers. She pecks him on his cheek.

EXT. JACK & MIA’S HOUSE – ONTERIO – CANADA – DAY

ONE MONTH LATER

A foreclosure sign in the corner front yard.

DRIVEWAY

Red Porsche convertible on flatbed truck.

V.O.(voice over) JACK; “The bank just took the car!”

V.O.(voice over)MIA; “My Uber app isn’t working?!”

BACXKYARD

Jack and Mia sit back-to-back at a table on side-patio. They appear frustrated. Mia turns to Jack. He looks away.

MIA

“Why didn’t you tell me the Uber account was overdrawn?”

JACK

“Mia, I am desperate for the first time in a long time. Truthfully, I’m a little scared.”

Mia nods humbly, they hold hands, bow their heads.

V.O.(voice over) JACK; “Dear, God. Help.”

EXT. CARWASH – ALBEQUERQUE – NEW MEXICO – DAY

A WEEK LATER

V.O.(voice over) JACK; “What would, CupHead do? It kept coming to me, over and over! Then, Wango!”

V.O(voice over)MIA; “Exactly! Why didn’t we see it?!..Moon?…A rematch?…Vegas?…Good verse Evil?! Haha!”

Moon, scrub-brush in hand, spray bottle in the other, stands next a car.

V.O.(voice over)JACK; “This could be dangerously epic?!”
